Short tribute to Earl Scruggs

Earl Scruggs died last week, Mar 29, 2012, I believe. He was 88 years old. If you don't know who Earl Scruggs is, you're missing out on some beautiful music. If I say "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" or the "Ballad of Jed Clampett" (the theme song from the "Beverly Hillbillies") then you know Earl's work. He wrote (or at least co-wrote) them and played the banjo on them. He was a banjo virtuoso. He helped popularize the back woods music from Appalachia. I have a phonograph album of his (yes, I still have some and listen to them), titled "Earl Scruggs, His Family and Friends". I purchased it back in the late 70's I would guess. On it he plays pieces with Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Doc Watson and the Byrds among others. It is just fantastic and a real treat to listen to. Thank you Earl, for the pleasure you brought to us.
