From May 18 - 30, 2014, I had the good fortune to be able to visit New York City. Thanks to my wife's employment, lodging was paid for and I was "on vacation" the entire time. We stayed in Brooklyn, in the neighborhood of Red Hook, in a converted luggage factory. My "artist loft" (as the owner described it on AirBnB) was on the top floor (4th), and a walk-up. But it was great! There was easily accessible free street parking, reasonably near-by public transportation (the B61 bus), and given the time of year, I could sleep with the windows open (there were no window screens but again, given the time of year, bugs were not a problem). Oh and the views of Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn were not bad.
